Dr. Tara Chand Forms Baloch American Congress

WASHINGTON DC: Dr. Tara Chand, former President of the Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) USA Chapter and a former minister in the Baluchistan government, has announced the formation of a new political organization in the United States to advance the struggle for the Baluch right to self-determination.

According to a press release, e former minister has founded the Baloch American Congress (BAC) in Washington D.C. to “strive for the achievement of the right of self-determination of Balochistan and will endeavor for the safeguarding of socio-political and cultural rights of the Baloch Diaspora in North America.”

The BAC has appointed Mr. Razzak Baloch as the organization’s deputy organizer, adding that a convention would be held to select the party functionaries and to approve the manifesto of the organization.

Dr. Chand, in a statement, said, that the absence of a proper, feasible strategy and lack of collaboration between different factions of the Baloch resistance and lack of international support was responsible for the never-ending miseries of the Baloch people.

“The Baloch Diaspora in the United States who is facing socio-political issues of various natures, has, for a long time, felt the need for an association to highlight the never-ending human rights violations in Balochistan, to highlight the national cause of the Baloch in international forums and to debate, discuss and analyze the problems facing the Baloch living in the United States,” he said.

While several political and human rights organizations are currently working in North America and Europe for Baluch rights, this is the first time that a former minister of the Baluchistan government and the country president of a major Baloch parliamentary party has announced the formation of a political organization to highlight Baluchistan’s case abroad.
